Autism

The learning journey of caring for someone with autism can feel frightening and overwhelming. Healthy Essentials Clinics wrap around services are here to make the path forward easier.  

Your experience may look something like this:

You have received the news that you or your child have been diagnosed with autism. Autism, like other diagnoses, can be on a spectrum. Therefore, a commonly used term for diagnosis is Autism Spectrum Disorder or ASD. 

So what happens now?

Your General Practitioner will help guide you and inform you of the community resources that best meet your needs. You may be referred to a psychiatrist or pediatrician or other specialized services for you and your family. HEC encourages you to also contact Autism BC for more detailed information about resources in your region.
